Aquatics Lead Teacher, The Arbor School ? Immediate StartThe Arbor School is a growing school situated near the Dubai Marina area of Dubai, in the UAE.The school opened in September 2018 and currently has over 1,000 children on the register. The school offers the National Curriculum for England with a focus on Ecoliteracy, Sustainability and Environmental Justice which are incorporated into the curriculum across all year groups.The school has a diverse student body with children from over 50 countries, creating a truly International environment.An Arbor teacher has the opportunity to be more than an ordinary teacher, as they will develop their professional skills and knowledge in an extraordinary learning environment. The education of an Arbor student does not stop at the classroom door, and therefore an Arbor teacher values the learning experiences that occur in the learning garden, with our animals, inside the greenhouse, inside the biodomes or within the reflection garden, as much as they value a student?s progress in numeracy or literacy.We are currently looking for an outstanding Aquatics Lead Teacher to join the team immediately.JOB SUMMARYThe Aquatics Lead Teacher would oversee our swim programme and staff during curriculum lessons as well as our extra-curricular programme. Our students participate in aquatics on a regular basis including learning to swim sessions, development squads, local competitions and water sports such as water polo.Main Responsibilities:

  • Teaching swimming to groups of children within lessons as allocated by Head of PE.
  • Leading before-school and after-school Swim Squad sessions for advanced, beginner and intermediate swimmers.
  • Supervising and overseeing the school lifeguard team, swim coaches and facilities team employed by the school to ensure high standards of health and safety, swimming delivery and supervision.
  • Leading on the organisation, coaching and managing of swimming galas and swim meet participations, both on and of site, including outside of regular working hours.
  • Leading PE Departmental CPD on swimming, upskilling PE teachers in their technical delivery of swimming lessons.
  • Regularly checking and updating swim-related school documentation, specifically the NOP and EAP documents, ensuring they are up to date and adhered to.
  • Assisting the Head of PE and other PE teachers during other sports activities.
  • Assisting the Head of PE and other teachers to ensure that all equipment, fixtures, and fittings are maintained in a safe condition in accordance with the manufacturers? recommendations and relevant health and safety legislation, and that all defects to the buildings are reported as quickly as possible.

  • Native-level English language skills.
  • Teaching Qualification preferred.
  • Minimum ASA Level 2/ Austwim Swimming Level 1 or equivalent swimming qualification.
  • A Lifeguard Certificate or Highfield Swim Rescue Award, or equivalent.
  • CPR and First Aid Certified.
  • A minimum of 3 years? experience teaching swimming to children.
