Job Description

Munich Re Group is currently looking for a Fellow or nearly qualified Actuary to support the pricing of life reinsurance quotes. The role is for Life business team located in one of the group offices in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Life team in Dubai is responsible for life insurance and family takaful clients in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Levant markets. Munich Re Group is currently looking for a Fellow or nearly qualified Actuary to support the pricing of life reinsurance quotes. The role is for Life business team located in one of the group offices in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Life team in Dubai is responsible for life insurance and family takaful clients in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Levant markets.The position offers collaborative and professional environment in which there will be plenty of opportunities to gain exposure to a variety of markets, products and risks, sharpen actuarial skills and learn new things on a daily basis.Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform actuarial pricing and analyses of reinsurance/retakaful quotes with some guidance
  • Support the peer review process of pricing carried out by team members
  • Assist in liaising with the LH2 Regional Pricing team for quotes outside local pricing authority
  • Draft written reports and documentation for results and methods employed
  • Provide support for monitoring mechanism for all individual and group life treaties in place
  • Liaise with client managers to assist on technical matters with existing and prospective clients
  • Communicate with underwriting and claims department to gain and use their feedback on clients
  • Support in carrying out experience studies as well as treaty documentation
  • Accurate and timely completion of work as part of a team working together towards tight timeframes
  • Ensure Munich Re?s actuarial standards are met in all areas of work
  • Support other pricing or ad-hoc projects and tasks when required
Qualifications
  • University graduate or equivalent with strong academic record.
  • Fellow or nearly qualified Fellow of Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), Society of Actuaries (SoA) or any other internationally recognised actuarial body.

  • Strong analytical skills that can be applied to data in order to make sense of what is happening within Munich Re and its client?s businesses
  • Ability to grasp new concepts and technical issues quickly.
  • Communicate clearly and appropriately with a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Good organisational and planning skills with the ability to think laterally as well as logically.
  • A team player who will step up and take responsibility when required.
  • Strong life insurance, risk assessment and reinsurance pricing skills.
  • Solid proficiency in Excel, VBA and database management systems.
