PositionForensic SpecialistLocationBeirutContract12 months renewablePURPOSE The Forensic Specialist contributes to and implements programmes and activities related to the Forensic Strategy and the Strategy for the Missing File for the ICRC humanitarian response in Lebanon, which seeks to ensure that all policies, regulations, procedures, infrastructure, human resources and practices are in place for the protection of the dead and their families, including in times of emergencies, and for the effective search for missing persons, management of the dead and identification of bodies, including all the required quality assurance and information management aspects.ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Under the supervision of the Forensic Coordinator, the Forensic Specialist is responsible for the implementation of forensic projects and activities in the Delegation related to strengthening of the Investigative and medico legal systems for the effective search for missing persons and identification of bodies and the protection of the dead and their families (i.e. Emergency preparedness, Missing File),
• Provides technical/professional advice and administrative support when required for the correct implementation of Forensic programs and other programs at the Delegation level that require forensic involvement and support.
• Contributes to the forensic analysis of the context by maintaining an overview on the forensic situation in Lebanon and in the region when possible, particularly structures and organizations involved in the management of the dead, search for missing persons and identification process.
• Contributes to defining/orienting the forensic strategy and the strategy for the missing file of the Delegation, specific objectives, the plan of action, the timeline and the resources required (budget included).
• Organizes/Provides training, courses, roundtables and workshops aimed at implementing the program objectives related to Forensics.
• Organizes, participates and / or assists in field visits, forensic-related meetings, briefings, information sessions and dissemination activities for ICRC staff, with families, to the general public, including families and to relevant external stakeholders,
• Provides oral and written reports on forensic-related meetings, trainings and activities.
• Conducts analysis on forensic-related topics / individual cases and generates data for evidence-based decisions at the country level.
• Sensitizes / Briefs ICRC staff and others on forensic issues relevant to the ICRC and help sensitize ICRC staff and relevant external stakeholders on issues related to Humanitarian Forensics,
• Participates and makes presentations in internal/external national level, regional or International level meetings/ seminars or conferences.

• Understands and supervises the Performance Management & Development (PMD) activities for employees under their supervision
• Engages in ongoing and continuous feedback and support, particularly for employees under their supervision, but also other staff members
• Organizes regular meetings within their team to ensure optimal coordination of the work and proper flow of information
• Coordinates and supports the employees under their supervision in their personal development by coaching and advising them on internal and external training and development possibilities
