Job Description

The Senior Governance Officer will provide day-to-day management of the program?s suite of governance activities, delivered through the program?s network of specialized technical partners, in-house technical assistance and grant funding.Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Activity design; work with the Director of Governance and BRICC TO1 partners to design governance activities and translate them into grants and scopes of work for subcontracts. Provide technical support and technical inputs to the Grants and Contracts team to complete the award of grants and contracts for governance and capacity development activities.
  • Subcontractor management; track the work of ongoing governance activities implemented under subcontract, ensuring timeliness of delivery and quality of work; resolve issues with delivery.?
  • Grant management; track the delivery of governance milestones, working with grantees to ensure that grant milestones are delivered on time, of good quality and according to requirements; resolve technical issues with grant implementation.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation process: track, review and provide inputs to the monitoring team and provide all requirements on the governance activities. ?
  • Beneficiary relationships; build relationships with staff, managers and leadership of organizations in Syria benefitting from governance activities.
  • Delivery of activities: developing implementation plans to assure delivery of governance activities, gathering information data that will support the implementation; coordination in the field to support the implementation of the governance activities; and having a full understanding of the requirements to deliver activities.
  • Field management; provide day-to-day management of Governance and Capacity Development coordinators in Syria; ensure that they are tasked and execute governance activities as planned with clear timeline; build collegial and supportive relationships with them; enhance the capacity of the governance and capacity development coordinators when needed and required.?
  • Direct technical assistance; provide technical assistance, training and coaching to beneficiaries in Syria on governance-related topics.
  • Work planning; support the development of periodic work plans for governance activities.
  • Reporting; provide inputs into weekly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc reports.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
