A Patient Care Liaison assembles and maintains patient charts, completes documentation in an electronic health record and may run errands and transport patients for patient care unit staff upon request. Performs unit maintenance duties/errands to ensure a clean, neatly organized, efficiently operating unit. Assumes personal responsibility for patient, environmental and personal safety. score: N/A Completes care while conserving resources. o Checks patient room for unused equipment/supplies and returns to SPD promptly. o Practices good body mechanics, getting assistance as needed to protect patient and own safety. Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize work with changes as directed by the nurse. o Uses down time to improve unit appearance and accept additional assignments. o Assists others in assignment completion. o Willingly responds to requests by nursing staff accepting delegated duties from the Registered Professional Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse. Performs unit maintenance duties o Maintains neat and safe patient environment, including bedside table, bathrooms, wastebaskets, bedpans and urinals should be emptied. o Maintains clear hallways and doorways on an ongoing basis. o Assures discontinued equipment is removed from patient rooms. o Completes assigned maintenance tasks such as: cleaning of kitchen, refrigerators, utility rooms, IV poles, carts, making charts, and distributing SPD items. o Keeps nurse?s station well organized, wastebaskets emptied, clutter controlled. Ensures that no uncovered beverages or food at the nursing station. o Ensures adequate stock of supplies in all rooms. o Knowledgeable of SPD exchange cart and supply location. Performs errands as requested o Knowledgeable of locations of various support areas. o Responds promptly to urgent requests. o Promptly reports unsafe patient situations. o Recognizes role others play in providing care to the patient. Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance. Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year. Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.Minimum RequirementsIdentify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position.Education:Junior/Senior year of high school or equivalent education.Certificate of completion from an accredited Nurse Aide training programExperience:Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser. Multicultural sensitivity Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions .
