Action Against Hunger is an international non-governmental organization working in more than 40 countries in the fields of nutrition, food security and livelihoods, water sanitation and hygiene, and care practices. ACF is looking for its program in Jordan for?Head of Project - Composting Unit?Work place: ?Jordan ? Azraq?Monthly Basic?Salary Range: ??1104 JOD?

  • Specific Objectives:
Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Programme Manager, the Head of Project is responsible for the day to day implementations of field activities inside the compost unit. He/she coordinates and monitors the activities in the compost and sorting units, the CfWs activities in the compost and sorting units, and provide capacity building for local cooperatives and the municipalities.?
  • Main Objectives
Mission 1: Supervise the implementation of the composting and sorting units through cash for work:-Supervise the field work, and provide guidance and instructions to Cash for Work workers, including oversees the day-to-day solid waste management activities in different project locations (composting and sorting units).-Liaison with the team and report on project activities on monthly bases.-Determine engineering/technical requirements of composting by conducting inspections and analytical tests and analysing data related to the agricultural activities of the project.-Monitor the progress of the activities and ensure these are implemented as per the work plan, within budget, time schedules and quality standards.-Collaborate with the Deputy Programme Manager to plan the activities according to project?s work plan.-Carry out regular daily field visits to monitor and follow up on the implementation of the ongoing activities, identify and assess challenges or constraints and propose solutions and possible improvements.-Monitor materials quality (input materials of the composting and sorting units) and do technical inspection for each material delivery, and prepare material technical inspection report for the Deputy Programme Manager.-Ensure compliance with Action Against Hunger policies, standard operating procedures and donors? guidelines.-Develop and ensure applying safety procedures and standards.Examples of tasks:-Prepare reception note for the animal manure.-Ensure that all workers are using the protective equipment at the site.-Visit the workers at the sites and prepare visit?s report.-Report the number of individuals engaged in the project on a monthly bases.????Mission 2: Provide capacity building to the Municipality and local cooperative to enable them to manage the composting and sorting units:-Lead the hand-over process of the composting and sorting unit to the Municipality.-In collaboration with the Municipality cooperative focal persons, support the development and implementation HR and procurement policies as part of the hand-over of the composting unit to the municipality.-Promote the HR policies field level within the field workers and partners.-Enhance social dialogue and collaboration between the cooperative and the workers.-Supervise the recruitment of the composting unit workers in accordance with national regulations and project?s selection criteria.-Support the local cooperative in the management of disciplinary proceedings and disputes with workers.-Conduct capacity building trainings according to the need of local cooperative?s and municipality?s members.-Examples of tasks:-Conduct human resource capacity building training for local cooperative.-Implement the hand-over plan for the compost unit.-Conduct meetings with the informal recycling sector at dumpsite level, to ensure their participation in the designing of the sorting unit.?Mission 3: Provide guidance on human resources and financial? management to the cooperative in regards to Cash for Work activities in the compost and sorting units:-Support the local cooperative in selection and registering of Cash for Work workers, their attendance follow up and salaries payments.-Supervise the recruitment of the Cash for Work workers in accordance with national regulations and project?s selection criteria.-Support the local cooperative in the management of disciplinary proceedings and disputes with workers.Examples of tasks:-Ensure that all the taxes, including VAT and withholding taxes are fully understood and complied-Ensure that the selected workers are matching the selection criteria.-Timely forwarding of accounting information to the Deputy Programme Manager and financial team at field level-Ensure that all bank accounts related to the activities and credit card statements are regularly reviewed and reconciled.-Archiving accounting documentation and providing with double filling to ACF;-Prepare the year-end financial accounts for audits and to liaise with Auditors when required?Mission 4: Fulfil general responsibilities and contribute to broader Action Against Hunger Jordan operational quality and consistency-Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive information at all times-Perform other job related tasks as requested by the supervisor-Commit and comply with the organization gender, age and diversity principles & policies (working with people, communication)-Support on the implementation and the promotion of gender, age and diversity principles through daily activities and or through the management of their teams (Managing performance & development)
