The International Community School (ICS), one of the longest established and most successful international non proprietary schools in the Middle East, is seeking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and innovative Electromechanical Engineer/Assistant Manager to join the school as soon as possible.The deadline for applications isÿ31st of October 2023.ÿHowever, please note that we reserve theright to appoint before the closing date, and interviews will be arranged for all short-listed applicants as soon as possible.Role Summary:Reporting Relationship:The Electromechanical Engineer reports to the Facilities/Health & Safety Manager and is responsible for overseeing the quality of the school?s electromechanical functions and for assisting in managing any projects being planned or undertaken by, or on behalf of the School.Job Responsibility:The Electromechanical Engineer/Assistant Manager is responsible for the following specific areas of the School?s operations:Maintenance & Facilities:? Assists in preparing an annual school electromechanical maintenance plan and budget for the Facilities/Health & Safety Manager approval;? Costs maintenance projects within the approved budget;? Inspects the School?s facilities on a scheduled basis as per the request of the line manager; to identify areas needing maintenance;? Recommends emergency maintenance work;? Responds to requests from staff on MOJO helpdesk for any needed maintenance within their areas of responsibilities.? Recommends work to be carried out by external contractors:? Supervises the work of the electromechanical maintenance team and of outside contractors;? Coordinates with the line manager on the awarding of contracts to external contractors;? Maintains a record of all overtime work undertaken by members of his team and reports to HR accordingly;? Performs preventive maintenance procedures on electromechanical lines and equipment on a scheduled basis as per the request of the line manager;? Responds promptly to emergency requests and reports emergencies to the line manager;? Performs repairs as per the request of the line manager;? Advises the line manager on the needs of new equipment and projects;? Completes checklists on scheduled basis as per the request of the line manager; on buildings and equipment and maintains daily records of completed maintenance worksHealth and Safety:To assist in the overview of the Health and Safety activities in the School and to support the Facilities & Health & Safety Manager in ensuring that Health and Safety regulations are adhered to and enforced if necessary.? Assists in reports to SLT as delegated by the line manager, on a scheduled basis informing them of any developments or issues which might be detrimental to safe practices within the School.? Deals effectively with health and safety problems as they arise or refer to the Health and Safety Committee for advice.? Assists in communicating health and safety information and reports to the line manager.? Assists in conducting health and safety inspections of all relevant areas of the campus on a scheduled basis as per the request of the line manager.? Reports and investigates any accidents or near misses involving anyone associated with the School/Dept.? Assists in the development, review, evaluation and implementation of the Schools H&S policies and procedures, ensuring that these are appropriate for purpose and meet legislative requirements and best practice.? Ensures that the School has a robust and compliant approach to all H&S matters, with safe systems and processes in operation in accordance with risk control hierarchy methods.? Ensures that H&S policies are adhered to across the School through regular audit, inspection and other monitoring methods on a scheduled basis as per the request of the line manager.? Ensures that appropriate risk assessments are carried out across the School and to advise staff with risk assessment responsibilities. Assists in maintaining a central register of risk assessments and ensures regular review on a scheduled basis as per the request of the line manager.? Assist in devising and delivering appropriate Health and Safety training for staff and pupils to meet the School?s legal obligations. Assists in coordinating external training.? Assists in maintaining H&S training records and ensures that training is renewed as appropriate.? Assists in investigations and recording incidents, accidents and near-misses, and reports as appropriate.? Assisting in the delivery of H&S initiatives to staff.? Provides H&S advice and guidance to staff and other users of the School, for example, contractors, visitors, parents and pupils as requested by the line manager.? Assists in the oversight of regular or ad hoc projects/events at the School that present higher risk to pupils and staff, for example, school productions, performances or events, and works closely and collaboratively with staff overseeing such projects/events.? Attends Health & Safety Committee meetings? Assists in receiving and managing external inspections from local authorities or other statutory bodies.? Supervises the operations of the School Clinic Team members.? Assists in completion of electrical safety checklists on a scheduled basis as per the request of the line manager;? Carries out any other reasonable ad hoc task or request as directed by the Business & Finance Director, or other members of the Senior Leadership Team.
