For more information, visit the World Bank website.Regional and Country Context The Middle East and North Africa RegionThe Macroeconomics, Trade, and Investment (MTI) MENA unit covers work in 25 countries within the region.?The conflict in Yemen has taken a great burden on the population, with an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, and on the economy. The latest shocks impacting the economy are the COVID-19 pandemic, adverse climate conditions, and the continuing impact of the currency depreciation, all of which have led to a further deterioration of socioeconomic conditions and depleted households and firms? coping capacity.?MTI has an active and rapidly expanding program in Yemen, comprising macro monitoring work, support to lending operations, analytical and advisory work across macroeconomic and structural issues. We play an important coordinating role among donors in Yemen; the knowledge on the economic and social conditions and developments prepared by the MTI team is a strong component to this dialogue and coordinating role.?Duties and Accountabilities As part of the MTI team, your responsibilities will be the following:? Conduct macroeconomic monitoring and contribute to the dialogue on macroeconomic policy and economic growth issues with the authorities and non-government partners.?? Serve as a focal point for the Bank on macroeconomic issues, and guide sector teams on the macroeconomic implications of sector policies and investment decisions.?? Coordinate the macroeconomic monitoring and policy dialogue with the IMF and development partners;? Lead and provide support to lending operations focused on economic policies and reforms;? Provide thought leadership on core economic development issues. In partnership with Global Practices, analyze challenges to economic growth and productivity;? Prepare key economic policy papers, policy notes and reports, including core analytics such as Country Economic Memorandums, and Public Expenditure Reviews;? Support the analytical work program of the Country Management Unit including the preparation of country engagement products and other key strategic pieces, such as the Systematic Country Diagnostics, Country Partnership Frameworks, and country briefs;? Engage with technical expertise and promote knowledge across Global Practices to advance the economic development agenda;? Support the Practice Manager and the Global Practice with corporate demands, as needed;?
