Action Against Hunger (ACF)ÿis a leading humanitarian and development agency working to combat the causes of hunger and malnutrition in over 46 countries worldwide, in the fields of nutrition, food security and livelihoods, water sanitation and hygiene, and mental health and care practices. Eleven years into the Syrian conflict, more than 1.3 million Syrians have sought refuge in Jordan; 676,164 are registered refugees and approximately 80% live in non-camp settings. This influx of refugees has strained Jordans economy and resources, with Syrians often accepting worse working conditions and lower compensation than Jordanians and taking on low-skill, informal jobs in sectors such as in manufacturing, construction and agriculture. In 2022, Jordan had a 23% unemployment rate. For Syrian refugees, unemployment rates are significantly worse with 80% of Syrian refugees unemployed in 2021, up from 50% and 65% in 2019 and 2020.An internship at Action Against Hunger is a short-term, learning experience opportunity aimed at developing the professional experience of aspiring humanitarian workers. In addition to developing a strong talent pool, the internship offers an opportunity to promote the work of Action Against Hunger and its humanitarian mandate. ACF is looking for its program in Jordan forÿCommunication Intern.Workplace:ÿÿJordan - AmmanCore Functions & Responsibilities:An internship aims at developing the professional experience of aspiring humanitarian and development workers. As a member of the Grants, Partnership and Communications team, the Communications Intern will support the development of high-quality information, education and communications (IEC) materials, and support the operationalization of Action Against Hunger?s communications strategy.ÿThe intern will be expected to gain knowledge and experience working with the activities related to the Communications strategy, supporting the Grants and Partnership Manager and Regional Communications Officer on the following tasks:

• Support Action Against Hunger Jordan?s visibility work to amplify its profile, promote its programs, and ensure compliance with donor visibility requirements among relevant audiences.
• Draft content for social media including case studies, success stories, videos and photos, travelling to the field to collect content as needed.
• Assist with the management of social media platforms for Action Against Hunger Middle East.
• Support in preparation of information, education and communication (IEC) materials for specific programs, working closely with the technical team on brochures, leaflets and other formats.
• Assist in keeping track of important news, events, milestones and other communication opportunities in regions of interest.

Specific Responsibilities:1: Produce communications materials about Action Against Hunger Jordan programmes in line with the organization?s strategic priorities and plans

• Develop, distribute, and archive communications materials such as success stories, videos, backgrounders, social media, posters/leaflets, and other materials in a proactive manner and as needed by utilizing various web-based design software.
• Take, caption, and?as appropriate?publish photos depicting Action Against Hunger?s work and the experiences of its project participants, always upholding the dignity of the photo subject.
• Update the missions? country communications plan in coordination.
• Support in preparation of information, education and communication (IEC) materials for specific programs, working closely with the technical team on brochures, leaflets and other formats.

2) Assist in implementing Action Against Hunger?s visibility, branding, and communications policies

• Ensure all written, photographic, video, visibility, and other communications material produced are done in alignment with Action Against Hunger policies and donor compliance.
• Coordinate with other Action Against Hunger Communications staff to ensure consistency in approaches taken to external representation.
• Maintain consent form files archiving.ÿÿ

3) Ensure adherence to Action Against Hunger gender requirements

• Commit and comply with the organization?s gender, age, and diversity principles & policies (reference in the PE: working with people, communication)
• Promote gender age and diversity principles through their daily activities.

Learning opportunities for the intern

• General understanding of the humanitarian sector experience and the role of different humanitarian actors including international and national NGOs and local actors in the humanitarian context.
• General understanding of the Action Against Hunger mission in Jordan.
• Working experience in a multicultural environment.

The intern is also expected to strengthen his/her knowledge and understanding of Action Against Hunger implementation guidelines by reading project documents and related SoPs. The intern will respect ACF internal rules and regulations, by-laws, and policies, and will adhere to the Code of Conduct
