Only nationals are eligible to apply for this postThe UNESCO Jordan Office works with the national authorities and people of Jordan to promote peace and sustainable development, through education, culture, sciences, communication and information.In culture, the Office supports the implementation of UNESCO?s convention to protect and safeguard cultural and natural heritage as an end in itself, as well as a means to contribute to local livelihoods opportunities and sustainable tourism development. It is within this framework that UNESCO Jordan is implementing the European Union financed Support to Livelihoods through Cultural Heritage Development project. Through the project, the Office is leveraging cultural heritage for sustainable development and the creation of employment opportunities in Jordan through the application of Cash for Work schemes for basic rehabilitation and conservation. The project engages Syrian refugees, vulnerable Jordanians and Iraqi Internally Displaced Persons in the preservation and development of cultural heritage sites for tourism purposes at 6 cultural sites in the North of Jordan.The incumbent will work under the overall authority of the Head of the Office and under the direct supervision of the Project Officer for Culture as well as in close cooperation with the Culture Team, and will be responsible for the overall project communication and visibility, in line with UNESCO and donor?s procedure.Long DescriptionThe incumbent will be based in Amman and will undertake field visits to the project sites as needed. The Communication and Visibility Officers duties and responsibilities include, but are not restricted to:1. Implement, and regularly update as needed the project?s Communication and Visibility Plan.2. Produce and/or review communication materials related to the EU-funded project for use in media and other advocacy and communication activities, as well as ensure quality and dissemination of printed and audio-visual materials to heighten the visibility of the project.3. Draft and edit articles, press releases, human-interest stories and other advocacy/information materials for both web-based and traditional media.4. Oversee the preparation of background communication and promotional materials for briefings and visits of media, high-level visits and other special interest groups. The task includes preparing information materials (e.g., press releases, project summaries, project fact sheets and media kits),5. Review media contents (raw footage, drone images, subtitles, photographs) and liaise with the contractors to ensure that the contents convey the key project messages.Long Description6. Create posts and content for the UNESCO Jordan social media accounts and website and oversee their updates in line with latest progress made in implementing the project.7. Support rapid and accurate information dissemination to the media.8. Liaise with relevant staff at UNESCO HQ to amplify the impact of the project on the global page.9. Contract and manage editors, proofreaders, graphic designers, videographers and printing houses for reports, lessons learnt and other publications.10. Contribute to the development of UNESCO Jordan communication strategy from the EU project perspective, noting that strategy is to be aligned with the UNESCO 5-year Country Strategy and Resource Mobilization Plan as well as relevant corporate policy and guidance documents.11.
