Roles & ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a skilled Pump Mechanic / Pump Technician to join our Facilities Management team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul, and repair of various types of pumps used in commercial, residential, and industrial facilities. The responsibilities will include but not limited to:1. Preventive Maintenance (PM)Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance for all pumps as per FM maintenance plan.Inspect and maintain:Pump body and casingMechanical sealsBearingsCouplingsShaftsMotorsValves and strainersBase frames and alignmentCheck lubrication requirements and replace lubricants as required.Ensure all pump rooms are clean and accessible.2. Daily Inspection & MonitoringConduct routine inspections of pump systems and record readings:PressureFlowTemperatureVibrationNoise levelLeakageRunning hoursIdentify abnormal conditions and report immediately.3. Breakdown MaintenanceAttend emergency pump failures and troubleshoot faults.Diagnose issues such as:Pump not startingLow pressure/flowExcessive vibrationSeal leakageMotor overheatingBearing failureBlockage issuesCarry out repair and replacement of defective components.4. Pump Alignment & TestingPerform pump and motor alignment checks.Verify coupling condition.Conduct operational testing after repair.Ensure pumps are returned to service safely.5. Zoo-Specific Pump Systems SupportResponsible for maintenance of pumps related to:Animal holding area water systemsFiltration systemsLife support systems (if applicable)Fountain/water feature pumpsDrainage/sewage pumpsStorm water pumpsDomestic water booster pumpsFirefighting pumpsHVAC chilled water pumpsTransfer pumps6. Electrical InterfaceCoordinate with electrical technicians for:Motor faultsMCC issuesControl panel alarmsVFD faultsSensors and switches(Technician should not modify electrical systems unless authorized.)7. Spare Parts ManagementMaintain minimum stock of critical pump spares:Mechanical sealsBearingsGasketsCouplingsO-ringsImpellers (critical pumps)Belts (if applicable)Report spare requirements.8. Documentation & ReportingComplete maintenance records.Update CMMS/work orders.Prepare breakdown reports.Maintain pump asset history.Record replaced parts.9. Safety ResponsibilitiesFollow Permit to Work (PTW) requirements.Use proper PPE.Maintain safe pump room conditions.10. Coordination with FM TeamCoordinate with:FM SupervisorLife Science teamSecurityOperations teamsInform before isolations/shutdowns.Ensure minimum operational impact.Desired Candidate ProfileMechanical diploma / technical certification3?5 years pump maintenance experienceExperience with centrifugal pumps, submersible pumps, booster systemsKnowledge of mechanical seals and alignmentBasic electrical troubleshooting knowledge
