Senior System Specialist

Job Description

• Conduct daily operations ensuring that work processes are optimally delivered
• Provide management information and insights on all dimensions of work area performance to facilitate discussion and decision making, both on a periodic basis and for ad-hoc management requests
• Assist the Section Manager - Cloud Services & Systems in recommending the infrastructure requirements for cloud services operations and provide requisite inputs during development of infrastructure
• Participate in the development of cloud computing standards, identifying and mitigating risks with technology, and help drive cloud-based solutions
• Manage the ongoing delivery of technical services for the cloud services portfolio of Smart Dubai
• Maintains existing Unix/Windows/Linux based server infrastructure and SAN storage units which includes analyzing, diagnosing and troubleshooting problems.
• Manages the backup configuration and procedures for Unix, Linux, Windows, and mass storage devices and ensures data integrity.
• Ensure smooth cloud computing operations through IaaS model (Infrastructure as a service)
• Manage provision of relevant cloud resources such as firewalls etc. for efficient use of cloud computing in running business operations at Smart Dubai
• Drive adherence to Smart Dubai defined change control procedures making sure adequate controls are in place to detect adverse trends and secure cloud-based data
• Participate in the development of cloud architecture strategies to ensure that current products can continue to evolve into the next generation storage and to ensure scalable solutions for enterprise-wide deployment
• Manage the troubleshooting of cloud services including investigation of the issue, conducting root cause analysis, escalating problems to other team members or vendors to ensure resolution of the problem at the earliest
• Provide support to end users on a variety of issues pertaining to cloud services, identifying, diagnosing and resolving L2 level technical problems in compliance to agreed SLAs
• Report periodically on infra-structure operations, computing resources usage, issues, major incidents, potential risks and make recommendations for service improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent
• Relevant certifications from TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) or ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) pertaining to IT services management or equivalent is preferred
• 4 years of relevant experience in managing cloud computing operations
• 1 year in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities
• Excellent Knowledge of cloud services delivery methods (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
• Expert Knowledge of Operating System administration ( Unix, Linux, Windows)
• Expert Knowledge of Storage & Backup Management.
• Understanding of technical services lifecycle
• Hands - on cloud computing experience
• Knowledge of cloud computing environments
• Security monitoring and awareness techniques
