Job Description

Job PurposeThe Head of Business Development plays a crucial role in supporting the CEO with business development initiatives. This position is responsible for generating business leads, participating in proposal development and commercial negotiations, and building long-term relationships with potential clients, engineering/manufacturing organizations, economic and trade bodies, and government stakeholders. The primary objective is to develop a robust opportunity pipeline and convert leads into sustainable revenue and profits, aligning with ECorp/ETSs vision, mission, corporate objectives, and directives from the Board and Management.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy Development & Market Research

• Collaborate closely with the CEO and ETS to develop short-term and long-term business strategies.
• Identify new market opportunities and create a strategic roadmap for market expansion.
• Explore new geographical markets or industry sectors that align with the companys strengths and capabilities.
• Conduct comprehensive market research, including competitor analysis and assessment of potential business opportunities.
• Work with senior leadership to establish and achieve revenue targets.

Business and New Project Development

• Oversee the preparation of proposals, bids, and presentations for prospective clients.
• Partner with engineering and operations teams to ensure proposals are technically robust and commercially competitive.
• Develop evaluation criteria to qualify leads based on potential revenue, strategic fit, and alignment with company capabilities.
• Conduct initial meetings and assessments to evaluate the viability of opportunities, prioritizing high-potential deals.
• Lead commercial and contractual negotiations, securing favorable terms that meet the companys financial and strategic goals.
• Ensure successful onboarding of new clients and projects, facilitating a smooth transition to project technical teams.

Stakeholder Management

• Identify and engage key stakeholders in various segments and regions to support the companys growth ambitions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners, including engineering and manufacturing organizations, business groups, government bodies, and economic councils/trade agencies.
• Advise internal teams on lobbying and advocacy strategies to achieve positive outcomes for business development opportunities.
• Promote the companys brand at business forums, industry events, and conferences.

People & Culture

• Manage and develop direct reports through objective setting, continuous support, feedback, and formal appraisals.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the business development team.

• Experience with project or service provider organizations, and technical consultancy is highly preferred.
• Proven ability to handle complex negotiations and secure favorable contracts.
• Polished, articulate, and able to present well at high-level forums and discussions.

Experience & Education

• 12+ years of experience in business development, sales, or similar roles.
• Strong background in engineering services, technical consultancy, or project management.
• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields. An MBA is highly desirable.
