Job Description

- Monitors daily routine health checks for all herds.- Ensures the daily operations are performed with due diligence- Oversees and executes the Cattle Health policy.- Makes sure sick cows are properly checked and treated.- Monitors all protocols related to Herd Health including vaccination programs, making sure that the correct vaccines and vaccination schedules are followed for all classes of cattle in the herd.- Makes sure sick cows are properly checked and treated.- Dry off with hygienic procedures and at correct times.- Plans and executes animal nutrition and reproduction programs.- Ensures that new Herd Health staff are inducted and aware of company policies and are given role clarity.- Inspects animal housing facilities to determine their cleanliness and adequacy.- Ensures the appropriate training and record-keeping is undertaken within the Herd Health unit.- Develops and executes proper mastitis treatment protocol.- Diagnose and treat diseases and dysfunctions of animals.- Directs the overall operations of animal hospitals, clinics, or mobile services to farms.- Conducts annual review of Herd Health staff performance (at least once a year for all on-farm staff).
