The position is responsible to support the day to day Chemicals Laboratories activities by participating from the project hazard reviews to the project execution. A successful candidate will have chemical engineering laboratory experience. Working under the general guidance of the Senior Scientist, duties will include: assisting with the provision of the lab chemicals and materials; maintaining a chemical and materials inventory; gas cylinders changeout, providing day to day support for lab equipment; ensuring equipment are ready for use; assisting in the disposal of waste chemicals, and implementation of laboratory Health and Safety procedures.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAssist with day to day lab workflowsMaintain an operational lab Equipment maintain, repair and assist all lab equipment and ensure lab spares and consumables are adequately stockedAssist with shipment of packages, verify and maintain packing slips corresponding to ordersResponsible for organization of all the lab toolsEnjoys hands-on work with laboratory equipment and materialsAdheres to safe lab operating practices working in a complex lab environment REQUIREMENTS: SKILLSExperience with basic electrical systems (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays).Experience with PLC (e.g., industrial maintenance, computer control systems, etc.).Experience with preventative maintenance (computerized preventative charts/data).EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEMinimum High School Diploma/Associate of Science in Chemical Engineering Technology/Industrial Chemistry TechnologyBachelors degree in Chemical engineering is a plus3-4 years of related chemical lab experience is a plusExperience with High-pressure gas systems (high pressure cylinders, valves), pumps (troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors, understanding specs) product manuals (e.g., reading and applying knowledge to make repairs, troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns (pinpointing and fixing breakdowns), mechanical drawings (e.g., hydraulics, pneumatics).General Chemical laboratory skillsDetail-orientedExperience working in team-based environments
