The department accepts all patients for treatment who are triaged for care in accordance with the Canadian Triage Acuity Scale (CTAS). EMS staff are specialized emergency healthcare providers who have advanced qualifications and experience.The department is able to provide rapid resuscitation, stabilization and transfer of critically ill patients. Although the department is not a designated trauma center, it provides advanced trauma care to patients brought to the department.
