Scheduling CoordinatorBasic FunctionGreets, register & schedule patients. Handles patient inquiries. Track referrals, no shows, and other statistics for a clinic. Provides general administrative support to physicians, nurses, and allied health staff in the clinic.ScopeUsing the computerized appointment scheduling system, to process patients appointments responsible for registering and scheduling surgical patients in various surgical specialty clinics. Uses the computer to schedule, cancel and reschedule patients. Sets up physician schedule patterns, maintains and modifies them as required. Updates patient no- show status in the computer and maintains patient appointment history. Using physicians messages system responsible for coordinating with the physicians daily. Using Re-Prescribe Medication system responsible for coordinating refills with the physician. Has important public relations responsibility and must be tactful in addressing patients. Must handle a variety of patient requests. Position requires in-house training and experience with complex computer applications. Uses computer to access all JHAH clinics field wide. Uses the computer scheduling system to determine patients eligibility and coordinates correction of errors. Pivotal position in clinic office, it is through this position that patients access the medical services where the necessary associated administrative and clerical services are initiated and accomplished. Supervision is minimal, only problems of unusual nature are referred to Supervisors. Attendance at workstation is continuous due to uninterrupted work request and demand, absence only for very necessary and justifiable needs.Principal ContactsInternal: Clinic supervisor/manager, Supervisor of Access Services (Call Center), charge nurse, senior physician and with patients of diverse nationalities in the JHAH population of 360,000. Frequent contact with physicians and nurses assigned to clinic for purpose of rendering care to patients. Occasional contact is required with the chief of service (division head) and/or the Administrator.External: Patients and their family members.Principal Duties
