Job Description

Atkins are looking for an experienced Principal Architect to join their design team in Riyadh, KSA.B.Arch or B.Sc. in Architecture from a recognized university

  • Qualified Architect with at least 15 years post qualification experience in the architectural design field
  • Preferably registered in UK, USA or Australia.
  • Understanding of financial and commercial management of projects.
  • Full understanding of risk management and ability to transmit the same to others.
  • Understanding of scope definition and scope interface and ability to transmit the same to others.
  • Full knowledge of international standards & best practice, policies, codes and procedures and ability to transmit the same to others.
  • A knowledge and appreciation of Statutory Authorities requirements and international best practice
  • Experience working on high-profile, fast paced projects with complex stakeholder and approvals processes
  • Excellent eye for design
  • Fluency in English, spoken and written
  • Outstanding presentation skills.
  • Excellent Software ability (both for CAD, CAM, Sketchup, REVIT, AutoCAD, graphic prestation)
  • Rhino/ Grasshopper are a plus
  • Ability to engage in design discussion with a capability to prepare and deliver public/ group presentations, and conduct research on different topics with autonomy
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines on budget and on time
  • A keen eye for detail resolution and accuracy
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to take initiative in response to direction from project managers, directors and partners
  • A team player, with a flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working and collaborating
  • Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills, communicating with clarity, purpose, and accuracy
  • Ability to negotiate

  • Middle East Experience is preferred
  • Develop a thorough design philosophy, effectively contributing to the inception and the development of a project.
  • Lead the design work ensuring project objectives are met, design instructions are implemented, and delivery is achieved within the set time and budget.
  • Responsible for the correctness, accuracy and complete multi-disciplinary coordination of the design documentation prepared by the assigned team.
  • Coordinate and develop responses to review comments, tender queries, contractors queries, etc.
  • Responsible, for the preparation and compilation of design presentations and design reports.
  • Full knowledge of Statutory Authorities requirements, knowledge of codes, regulations and submission requirements.
  • Developed knowledge of Sustainable Design principles.
  • Solid leadership skills and ability to mentor and provide support to junior staff members and spread knowledge across the wider architectural community.
  • Ability and will to update knowledge.
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken). Arabic language skills / proficiency is an added value
  • Ability to work both physically together or as part of a remote team and maintain ATKINS QA/QC standards
  • Keen eye for design, drawing and submissions review
  • Extensive project experience.
