The group of Professor Simon Krattinger at KAUST is seeking a highly motivated, creative, and talented bioinformatician. The Cereal Genetics and Genomics group combines technological innovations in genomics and molecular biology to address biological questions in the area of disease resistance, genome biology, and evolution of wheat. Our mission is to perform impactful curiosity-driven research as well as to translate basic science into better crops.ProjectThe project aims to expand our knowledge of wheat genome biology and evolution by generating and analyzing high-quality genome assemblies of neglected wheat species and wild wheat relatives, with a particular focus on gene flow into bread wheat. The project will also contribute to international efforts towards developing a wheat super-pangenome.OfferWe offer a highly international, dynamic, ambitious, and team-oriented scientific environment. Successful candidates demonstrate problem-solving and communication skills to work in a multidisciplinary and highly international team.
