Join us and lets get started. Job title: Marine Species Data Analyst, NEOM Marine Data Management:

  • Contribute to developing and managing a comprehensive database of coastal and marine habitats, species and subspecies in NEOM waters to support evidence-based conservation management.
  • Establish and maintain updated digital inventories of coastal and marine habitats, species and subspecies in NEOM waters based on available literature, datasets and field observations.
  • Develop and maintain updated checklists of coastal and marine habitats, species and subspecies of particular conservation significance, including: endemic, rare, geographically-isolated, threatened (red list), flagship, invasive (black list) as well as commercially and culturally-important habitats and taxa.
  • Utilize Geographical Information System (GIS) softwares for creating and managing spatial data sets and producing spatially explicit maps and files.
  • Model marine species distribution, range and population dynamics to inform the spatial conservation management planning of marine species in NEOMs waters.
  • Identify and utilize new data sources, software, and analysis tools and implement emerging systems and new technologies to collect, process, store, and analyze data pertaining to marine habitats and species.
  • Contribute to the routine maintenance of NEOMs digital interfaces (e.g. internet portals and mobile applications) to ensure that they are uploaded with the most updated information on coastal and marine habitats and species.
  • Prepare, compile, and sort documents for data entry, and check source documents for accuracy, where necessary.
  • Enter data from source documents into prescribed computer database, files, and forms.
  • Generate files, indices and maps, and information records using appropriate database software and computer programs.
  • Produce high quality maps and images to support assembling high-quality presentations and communication materials.
  • Create opportunities for education and stewardship among NEOM staff, residents and the wider public in relation to the richness and diversity of marine life in NEOM.
  • Support the day-to-day delivery of projects implemented by the Marine Species Conservation Unit including data collection, information management, spatial analysis, modelling, cartographic and web-based applications.
  • Support team members of Marine Division in the development of effective and innovative baseline assessments, long-term monitoring, rigorous evaluation, and transparent reporting of NEOMs marine areas to ensure sustainable, evidence-based management and conservation.
  • All other duties as assigned by the line manager.
Budget Management:
  • Support Leas, Species Management in managing annual budgeting cycles and processes.
  • Be accountable for the effective utilization of allocated budget.
  • Develop strategic initiatives to improve work effectiveness and efficiency with a constant focus on driving value to NEOM and anticipating and mitigating business, environmental and reputational risks.
Policies, Processes and Procedures:
  • Development of day-to-day marine species conservation workflows and relevant data production and management policies.
  • Review and integrate current and emerging best practices in day-to-day management and resources to ensure NEOMs programs align with and exceed best-in-class standards.
  • Understand, track, and incorporate technologies relevant to improvements in efficiency and effectiveness of the Marine Species Conservation and Management Program.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Management:
  • Establish and maintain inter-departmental and external stakeholder collaborative relationships.
  • Build alliances with internal and external stakeholders of environment and resources to maintain a current understanding of their expectations and behaviours to optimally support decision-making, anticipate changes in these requirements and maintain user-feedback processes.
People Management:
  • Take responsibility, in collaboration with the Lead - Species Management, for building and maintaining a high-performance Species Conservation Unit.
