Job Description

Chief mechanic job description1- Shall provide for preventive, routine and non-routine maintenance and for the repair of internal combustion engines, pumps, mud pumps, koomy unit, power and manual tongs, gearboxes, power swivel, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, compressors and well control related equipment of the hoist; 2- Ensure that all reporting routines are followed and that all equipment related paperwork are carried out within his area of responsibility, such as maintenance records, updating of service and instruction manuals, instructing procedures, diesel reports etc.3- Be familiar with reporting routines regarding the EDP (electronic data processing) based maintenance system.4- Keep the stock of spare parts and consumables at the appropriate level by verifying the stock levels and reporting to Asset Manager the deficiencies taking in consideration future maintenance requirements and delivery time.5- Monitors the reliability of spare parts utilized.6- Supervise the disassembly, loading, unloading and assembly of the hoist equipment during land rig transfer activities. 7- Be familiar with all classification society and authorities rules and regulations applicable to his area of responsibility.8- Ensure that all orders and instructions received verbally or in writing are fully understood and adhered to.9- Be safety conscious in all his work and use compulsory protective equipment. 10- Ensure he is familiar with all applicable work and safety procedures, and promote implementation of same; 11- Ensure that before any maintenance activity is started, a proper investigation is carried out, precautions have been taken and the ?work permit? has been signed. 12- Instruct all personnel assigned to him for assistance of their duties and responsibilities and of any special safety precautions to be taken prior to start-up of any work. 13- Promptly report all breakdowns, accidents, near-miss accidents, Non-Conformance and safety hazards to his immediate superior. 14- Ensure good housekeeping in his/her working areas.15- Ensure the 6 months and yearly inspections are don probably and he should be ready with all spares which is needed for the inspection.
