With a presence in 80 countries, SYSTRA manages over 3,000 projects for high-speed systems, traditional rail lines, metros and tramways throughout the world.Understand better who we are by visiting www.systra.com.ContextSystra are currently looking for Safety Engineers for theimplementation of the public transport project in Makkah, including Phase 1 of the bus infrastructure project, in line with the directives of the advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Governor of Makkah Region, and the Chairman the Council of the Zone Development Authority.Main duties

  • Monitoring and enforcing standards of safety in compliance with the project requirements.
  • Reviewing and inspecting work areas determining potential occurrence of safety hazards.
  • Observing and ensuring staff on site always; wear personal protective equipment, use hard hats and protective footwear, operate construction equipment in a safe manner and follow the companysafety policies.
  • Conducting daily inspections of the projects to ensure compliance and where applicable make recommendations for change.
  • In case of emergency, determining and investigating the cause of the accident, establish a report and provide recommendation(s) to prevent future occurrences.
  • Regulating set policies soliciting input from managers and workers.
DegreesBachelor degree in OtherOther degreesTechnical skills
  • Degree/Diploma in ]Engineering or Diploma in Health and Safety or equivalent
  • Health and Safety professional courses (e.g. NEBOSH IGC)
  • At least 5 years experience ideally in the rail industry or transportation industry
  • Very good command of both the spoken and written English and Arabic language
  • Excellent computer skills rounded by very good organizational skills
  • Experience in multicultural environment

  • Strong background of health, safety, and environment (HSE)
  • Comprehension and practical application of risk assessments
  • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy
  • Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills, as well as excellent managerial skills, including planning, organizing, and directing work in a collaborative work style, fostering cooperation and teamwork
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate across the organization
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability
