Without a doubt, this will be the most rewarding and meaningful work youll ever find with a work family that is second to none!The Job Opportunity and Duties...* Oversees work of inmates assigned to the Ohio Penal Industries (OPI) Tag Shop/Warehouse Workshop. * Provides security and custody of inmates * Trains inmates in proper work methods, equipment operation and/or safety practices in the Tag Shop/Warehouse area * Enforces institution rules and regulations * Maintains control of supplies, equipment and tools (e.g., issues & records daily tool & chemical usage, inventory supplies) * Assigns and reviews work (e.g., schedules inmates) * Monitors and evaluates work performed and completes quality control check) * Ensures quality control specifications of products, ability to read blue prints Prepares and maintains records and reports of workshop activities * Input data into manufacturing system as assigned, Global Shop Solutions * Oversees equipment maintenance (e.g., schedules routine and preventative maintenance) and/or workshop cleaning * Escorts and/or transports inmates * Oversees shipping, receiving, storage and/or inventory of products and materials * Prepares and submits reports * Completes daily and month-end inmate payroll * Completes month-end Earned Credit report * Completes inmate performance evaluations (e.g., annual and special) Completes weekly inspection report * Performs other related duties and security functions * Attends in-service trainings * Works on special projects and committees * Assists with ACA (e.g., instititonal and OPI) files * Performs other duties as assigned * May be utilized in any other OPI shop due to staff shortage &/or extenuating circumstancesQualificationsFormal education in arithmetic that includes fractions, decimals & percentages; 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in craft or trade (e.g., sewing, metal work, carpentry) & in operation of hand & power tools & equipment (e.g., drill press, bindery equipment, sewing machine) of particular assigned area; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in employee training & development. Or, for positions assigned to asbestos abatement program, successful completion of the following courses: asbestos building inspection initial course, asbestos management planner initial course & asbestos abatement project supervisor initial course per EPA regulations Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (i.e., AHERA), CRF763 Sub Part E. Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above. Knowledge of penal workshop operating policies & procedures*; craft or trade in particular assigned area (e.g., sewing, metal work, carpentry); fractions, decimals, percentages; employee training & development. Skill in operation of hand & power tools & equipment (e.g., drill press, bindery equipment, sewing machine) of particular assigned area. Ability to understand system of mechanical or other specialized procedures; communicate verbally regarding mechanical or non-mechanical matters; stand, walk or bend continuously; move limbs/fingers easily to operate equipment or use tools.
