Job Description

GlobeMed Group, the largest Healthcare Benefits Management company in the MENA region is looking for a Database Officer who will be responsible for increasing the technical support for the database environment including overseeing the development and organization of the databases, assessment and implementation of new technologies, and providing Information Technology with a long-term perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities facing the company.He/She will assist the Database manager in the management of different databases and what it entails in terms of analysis, design, availability, recovery, monitoring, configuration, deployment and support.Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all functions associated with the design, implementation and maintenance of database including security, backup, logging, reporting and recovery procedures.
  • Installation and Configuration of new database and application servers.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting database and application services.
  • Handle and solve user locking issues.
  • Tuning and Performance analysis and resolution.
  • Deploy scripts and programs provided by ICT.
  • Update the current user guides and manuals of the systems.
  • Perform daily data maintenance tasks.
  • Reports any critical issues to your direct supervisor & to local management team in order to ensure streamline process.
  • Controlling and monitoring user access to the database
  • Understand impact of database changes and make recommendation as appropriate and communicate of database changes to affected parties.
  • Consult with project Manages to design appropriate solution.
  • Secure database by developing policies, procedure and control for high secure system.
  • Install, configure, migrate and upgrade oracle server software and related products under different platforms (windows, AIX, Solaris, etc?).
  • Create and maintain oracle data guard ?standby DBs for high database availability.
  • Develop and implement backup and recovery strategy to protect the database against data loss and reconstruct the database after data loss.
Qualifications
  • University degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • 4-10 years of experience in Oracle database Administration, MsSQL is a plus
  • Database-related certification is a plus (OCP, MCSD, etc.)
  • Knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices.
  • Knowledge in high availability, data replication and data security.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes and change controls is a plus
