Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Individuals must possess the knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. * Ability to effectively interact with administration, faculty, staff, students, and outside constituents in a responsive and professional manner* Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.* Language ability to produce clear and concise reports; reasoning ability to problem solve quickly* Superior computer skills necessary to establish and maintain systems. Must be able to create and format documents in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and work in an electronic health record system. Knowledge of Internet and Intranet is required.* Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, be flexible with job assignments, and have organizational skills necessary to prioritize workload* Ability to work independently without constant supervision* Knowledge of special emphasis within optometric scope of practice and its application to clinical optometry* Skilled in reviewing and understanding scientific literature related to area of special emphasis* Able to lecture on topics of expertise related to area of special emphasis Required Qualifications * Education: Successfully graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree from an ACOE accredited school of optometry* Licensure: Successfully passed NBEO Board Exams Parts 1, 2, 3, and TMOD * Licensure: Must take all possible steps in obtaining a license from the State of California prior to the beginning of the program. In order to proceed through the program, each resident must meet licensing and credentialing requirements. Preferred Qualifications List comments regarding work hours Exempt employee. Typical working hours is 8am ? 5pm. Nights and weekends may be required. Posting Date 05/12/2022 Closing Date Special Instructions to Applicants Essential Job Duties Job Duty * Provide patient care services in assigned area of emphasis. Provide progressively independent care to patients during the residency period, reaching autonomy by its conclusion.* Complete all health care records and letters in a timely manner according to the policies of the clinical site Percentage Of Time 80 Job Duty * Participate in clinical and laboratory teaching* Participate in the education and supervision of clinical interns and externs from WesternU and/or other schools that rotate through the program sites? clinics. Percentage Of Time 10 Job Duty * Participate in a Learning Program (minimum of 12-hours for the year), which will provide a broad didactic curriculum that includes a diversity of topical areas in forms of in-person and remote lectures, workshops, and grand rounds* Responsible for the following presentations and papers:+ Lecture at one of WesternU College of Optometry?s continuing education (CE) programs+ Submit a poster or presentation at one of the national optometric meetings (e.g. AAO , AOA , ARVO , COVD , NORA , etc.) Percentage Of Time 5 Job Duty * Complete Meditrek Patient Logs and Meditrek Weekly Activity Reports within one week of occurrence. These will be reviewed by the Residency Supervisor to ensure appropriate patient scheduling and completion of needed activities.* Evaluate and complete quarterly reviews of faculty with whom they have significant exposure to. This evaluation will be reviewed by the Residency Supervisor and shared with faculty involved.* Evaluate and complete bi-annual reviews of the Residency Supervisor. This evaluation will be reviewed by the Residency Director.* Performs other duties as assigned. The University/College reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
