Position Title Laboratory Technician III Location of Position Dartmouth Cancer Center One Medical Center Drive Lebanon, NH 03756 Position Purpose The Rosato lab studies how immune memory forms and functions against viruses. We are interested in harnessing these functions for vaccine design and cancer therapy. Responsibilities will include ordering lab supplies, mouse husbandry and tissue collection, designing and executing experiments, and maintaining a detailed lab notebook. The successful candidate will train and work directly with the PI. The Rosato lab is committed to a safe and supportive environment for all lab members. Description Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Skills & Knowledge * Basic laboratory skills: molarity/dilution calculations, accurate solution formulation, ability to understand and follow basic laboratory protocols under direct supervision, willingness to work with mice and infectious agents. * Ability to work independently with good judgment and good organizational and time management skills. * Maintenance of accurate lab notebooks. * Knowledge of computers and software applications. Experience * Some relevant laboratory or science experience. Education * BA/BS or MS in a biological science or related field. Preferred Qualifications Description Experiments * Conducts specified laboratory experiments, utilizing a range of established methods, procedures, and techniques; e.g., flow cytometry and microscopy.* Accomplishes necessary preparations to include equipment and instrumentation set-up, specimen preparation, etc.* Observes experiments while in progress; records observations; trouble shoots as necessary.* Reconciles results that are disparate from anticipated findings; re-runs techniques as necessary.* Notifies principal investigator of problems associated with experiments, measurements, or analyses and suggests changes to methods, procedures, or techniques as appropriate.* Maintains laboratory notebook recording tasks performed.* Adheres to laboratory safety requirements including general and chemical/hazardous waste safety disposal methods. Records * Collects and analyzes data resulting from experimentation/testing and presents findings to Principal Investigator.* Prepares appropriate and understandable representations of data such as graphs, charts, tables, statistical summaries, etc.* Contributes to the preparation of scientific manuscripts by preparing graphs, tables, and charts, etc.* Conducts literature searches to develop insights into the significance of experimental results and to acquire information on new or improved methods, procedures and techniques. Laboratory * Accomplishes day-to-day care and housekeeping of laboratory.* Orders laboratory supplies as needed.* Monitors laboratory equipment and instrument performance; obtains maintenance and repair as necessary.* Maintains computerized records associated with laboratory activities.* Instructs others in laboratory methods, procedures, and techniques and provides technical guidance and direction as required.
