Job Description

JOB PURPOSETo provide technical support on the development, maintenance, testing and implementation of a portion of IT solutions in line with business requirements.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)Within the assigned unit and delegated authority, the database associate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Designing and creating databases: This may include determining the data types and attributes for each field and the relationships between different tables.
  • Implementing and populating databases: This may include writing scripts to import data from external sources and writing queries and procedures to manipulate and extract data from the database.
  • Maintaining and optimising databases: This may include troubleshooting and fixing issues with the database and optimising performance and scalability.
  • Providing support and training to users: This may include providing technical support to users who have questions or issues with the database and training users on how to use the database.
  • Testing and debugging databases: This may include writing test cases and scripts to ensure the database functions correctly and debugging and fixing issues identified during testing.
  • Documenting database design and processes: This may include creating documentation and diagrams to explain the design and structure of the database, as well as the processes and procedures used to maintain it.
  • Follow data gathering and monitoring systems ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained.
  • Contribute to the plan and deliver continuous improvement to data integration solutions, through the application of data management best practices in combination with data technology.
  • Develop and improve ETLs
  • Apply data sanity checks and deduplication on the database to ensure data quality
