Job Description

Specialist (Web Development), Institute for Global Health and DevelopmentLocation:Karachi, PakistanIntroduction:The Aga Khan University?s Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD) was established in the year 2020 to serve as a University-wide entity for providing a unique platform for facilitating strategic engagements and partnerships between AKU, University of Central Asia and the wider Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). IGHD aims to address global health and environmental challenges by creating a multi-disciplinary support system and infrastructure, whereby researchers across campuses and regions can collaborate and contribute.The IGHD works across four thematic areas, including Sustainable Development Goals (including Broad Social Determinants of Health); Gender Equity and Empowerment; Climate Change, Urban Development, and Health, and; Agriculture, Food Security, and Nutrition.Responsibilities:You will be responsible to:

  • develop new programmes and test the programme to develop needed changes to assure production of a quality programme
  • ensure enhance control over large or complex projects
  • participate in project architecture design
  • utilise backend data services and contribute to increase existing data services API
  • write, edit and debug new or existing web programme
  • deploy code on server and manage source code through GIT
  • review all project protocols and data collection tools to ensure that collected data meet projects need
  • document the development process, architecture, and standard components
  • convey effectively with all task progress, evaluations, suggestions, schedules along with technicial and process issues
  • collaborate with teams of various sizes, communicate clearly, share knowledge, and perform peer review on merge requests
  • lead the entire web application development life cycle right from concept stage to delivery and post launch support
  • provie support in web workshop/seminars.
Requirements:You should have:
  • a BS/MS in Computer Science/IT/Software Engineering/Other similar fields from an HEC recognised or reputable foreign university/institution
  • at least four years of work experience of developing interactive web applications and dashboards
  • hands-on experience on PHP (laravel, CodeIgniter, core PHP), java, .Net, MySQL, MS SQL server, (React.js & Node.js would be a plus point)
  • excellent working knowledge of an objective oriented language (Java, C++, C#, PHP or similar)
  • should be good in data structures and database design
  • excellent knowledge of HTML5/CSS/Javascript/JQuery
  • experience and general knowledge of MySQL or MS SQL Server
  • experience of creating dashboards, graphs and tables
  • significant experience with version control and esp. GitHub
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • strong management/supervision skills
  • willing to travel on regular basis on national and international visits.
