The affiliated Aga Khan University Hospital has well-equipped investigative services and provides state-of-the-art clinical facilities.The Department of Surgery provides comprehensive and sub-specialty care in the areas of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dental-Oral, Maxillo-facial Surgery, General Surgery, Breast Surgery, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery. With regards to Paediatric Surgery, there is strong collaboration with the Department of Paediatrics & Child Health and the Children?s Hospital Service Line.The Aga Khan University invites application for contractual positions of Senior Research Assistant in the Department of Surgery.ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for:

  • collecting, managing, and analysing the data for brain tumor research projects including clinical data, molecular data, and MRI brain scans
  • extracting, anonymization and annotation of MRI scans
  • writing manuscript and searching literature for original article, reports, and reviews
  • preparing grant proposals for internal and extramural funding bodies
  • completing grant checklists and ensuring approvals from relevant departments
  • completing the formalities for collaboration and transfer of data with external investigators for different projects
  • arranging meetings with groups and with external collaborators/parties
  • preparing presentations for conferences, research group meetings, and similar events.˙
RequirementsYou should have:
  • at least MBBS or BS/MS degree in Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence or Data Sciences from an HEC recognised or reputed foreign university
  • at least six months of relevant experience in research work that involves handling of datasets and writing manuscript˙
  • a basic level of understanding in neuroanatomy
  • ability to use MS Office, SPSS, and any other image analysis software˙
  • effective presentation skills and problem-solving skills˙
  • ability to work in a team.
