Senior Research AssistantDepartment: Anaesthesiology Organization: Aga Khan UniversityIntroductionThe Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistans first private university, Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university. The Department of Anaesthesiology at Aga Khan University is committed to providing clinical excellence in perioperative care as well as the training of future anaesthesiologists. Our team of trained and well-experienced anesthesiologists aims to provide best possible patient care not only in the operation theatres but also beyond it. With current 35 clinical faculty our department is one of the biggest Anaesthesia department in country, our faculty is also involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education and our programs are recognized at national and international level. Responsibilities You will be responsible for: 

  • Overall management of anaesthesia research cell (ARC) review process
  • ERC (ethic review committee) application submissions for all faculty and residents.
  • Close contact with Clinical Trial Unit (CTU), in approval process of RCTs.
  • Keeping Dissertation record of passed out residents (previous 5 years).
  • Internal audit of ongoing studies for JCIA.
  • Developing and maintaining required project tracking grids, such as residents.
  • Translation of questionnaire / data collection forms and consent forms.
  • Record keeping of annual publications, conference presentation and research posters.
  • Help in conversion of hard data into soft data.
Requirements  You should have:
  • Bachelors in science, Maters will be preferred.
  • Well versed and organisational research protocols.
  • Experience in clinical research.
  • Experience in dealing with the AKU ethics review committee (ERC) will be an added advantage.
  • Literature research (PUBMED, Scholar, Internet).
  • Facilitate in searching literature and references.
  • Data entry statistical analysis (SPSS), knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Redcap.
  • All content is run through in house plagiarism software (Turnitin)
  • Urdu translation, typing, editing, and formatting
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good customer orientation
  • Proficient in use of computer packages, e.g. MS Office, Excel
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Developed informed consent as per requirement.
