IntroductionThe Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.Platform Project - Experimental Medicine Platform (EMP) is a multicountry study funded by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Along with Pakistan(AKU), other countries are Bangladesh (ICDDRB), Zambia (Tropgan), and Senegal (Institut Pasteur de Dakar). This grant aims to harmonize intervention protocol for new probiotics-based medicines for the management of malnutrition in pregnant women and women of reproductive age. The grant of over one million USD is for one year, and it focuses mainly on harmonization of protocol and data and lab samples collection for studying changes in the gut Microbiome.ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible to supervise and monitor the research activities including data collection as well as maintain necessary records, create and sustain liaison with the relevant stakeholders for the smooth implementation of all necessary activities of the project.
