Job Description

Research Associate (Lab), Pathology and Laboratory MedicineEntity: Medical CollegeLocation: PakistanIntroduction:Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Research Associate (Lab), Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. This is a platform trial that will evaluate multiple antiviral treatments for COVID-19. This randomised open label, controlled, group sequential adaptive platform trial, we will assess the performance of three distinct types of intervention relative to control (no treatment): identify quantitative evidence of antiviral activity in patients with COVID-19 is required to justify phase 3 clinical trials of putative antivirals.This is a grant-funded contractual position.Responsibilities: You will be responsible to:

  • devise methods for testing in the laboratory.
  • maintain highly detailed records of the stages of development of tests and the final results thereof.
  • perform specialized and complex experiments in such areas as molecular biology.
  • operate sensitive and highly complex laboratory equipment and/or perform computer applications.
  • maintain safe and efficient procedures in the laboratory
  • perform a wide variety of assays, tests, and studies of non-routine nature.
  • provide instruction and training to staff, interns and research students.
  • perform literature review and assist in the preparation of grants and manuscripts.
  • comply with the College, Division, and Unit safety practices and to attend courses on safety when appropriate
  • any other duties as may be deemed reasonable by Head of group as well as Head of Division/Department/Section.
Requirement: You should have:
  • MPhil or Master?s degree in Microbiology/Biotechnology/ Molecular Biology or a related field.
  • 4+ years of full-time laboratory experience.
  • excellent knowledge and hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques for DNA and manipulation.
  • strong background in in troubleshooting of molecular biology techniques.
  • excellent communication, organizational and record keeping skills.
  • A pride in dependable and accurate work and is effective at troubleshooting.
  • willingness to work in community setting and travel as per work requirements.
