Job Description

IntroductionThe Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.This is a contractual position.ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible to supervise and monitor the research activities including data collection as well as maintain necessary records, create and sustain liaison with the relevant stakeholders for the smooth implementation of all necessary activities of the project. Specific responsibilities include to:

  • develop training material and conducting regular training of staff on research / interviewing skills and proper data collection process
  • effective managing field work process to ensure efficiency
  • conducting interviews independently and taking thorough notes during observational visit and interviews
  • liaison with government department for necessary approvals
  • facilitating meeting among the research team and junior research staffs
  • provide supervision and support to staff
  • ensuring field implementation to project related SOPs and guidelines as defined in the research projects
  • preparing and presenting weekly projects related activity reports
  • data analysis and report writing skills
  • perform all other duties assigned time-to-time by the principal investigator in connection with the research projects.
RequirementsYou should have:
  • a Master?s degree, preferably in Sociology, Psychology or equivalent
  • at least one year of relevant experience
  • good interpersonal skills, particularly communication skills
  • proficiency in the use of computer applications, particularly MS Office
  • ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
  • ability to work effectively in teams and resilience to cope-up with work pressure
  • good report writing skills and willingness to work in the community settings and travel to field sites.
