Research Associate, Ehsaas Project, Institute for Global Health and DevelopmentDepartmentInstitute of Global Health DevelopmentEntityMedical CollegeLocationKarachi, PakistanIntroduction:The Aga Khan University?s Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD) was established in the year 2020 to serve as a University-wide entity for providing a unique platform for facilitating strategic engagements and partnerships between AKU, University of Central Asia and the wider Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). IGHD aims to address global health and environmental challenges by creating a multi-disciplinary support system and infrastructure, whereby researchers across campuses and regions can collaborate and contribute.The IGHD works across four thematic areas, including Sustainable Development Goals (including Broad Social Determinants of Health); Gender Equity and Empowerment; Climate Change, Urban Development, and Health, and; Agriculture, Food Security, and Nutrition.Ehsaas Nashonuma Program (ENP) under the umbrella of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) was initiated by the government in 2020 to improve maternal and child health, and particularly to reduce stunting in children. Aga Khan University, Center of Excellence is conducting an evaluation of the program through a quasi experimental study, longitudinal cohort and implementation researchResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible to:

  • develop research instruments for new project according to their objectives
  • conduct literature search
  • conduct systematic review and meta analysis
  • contribute to manuscript and report writing
  • conduct field visits and data collection on field
  • train junior staff in research/interviewing skills and proper data collection
  • ensure validity of data collected from the field
  • conduct qualitative research
  • monitor all data collectors, field workers and community health workers at the respective field sites to maintain quality control of data
  • visit different households in the communities to ensure successful completion of data collection in their areas
  • raise wider community awareness on Child Health related issues based on prepared project activity guidelines.
  • follow and ensure field implementation of project related SOPs/guidelines as defined in the research project
ResponsibilitiesYou should have:
  • a MBBS/BScN/Master in Arts/Sciences/Psychology or any other relevant degree
  • at least two year of experience in community research
  • ability to manage time and prioritise tasks effectively
  • excellent team player
  • good communication and interpersonal skills
  • resilience and ability to cope with work pressure
  • willing to work in the communities/field sites
  • good computer and report writing skills
