Job Description

IntroductionThe Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.This is a contractual position.ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible to supervise and monitor the research activities including data collection as well as maintain necessary records, create and sustain liaison with the relevant stakeholders for the smooth implementation of all necessary activities of the project. Specific responsibilities include to:

  • ensure clear images for diagnostic purposes and making adjustments to the sonographic equipment when necessary
  • monitor and care for patients to ensure their safety and comfort during the procedures
  • select and examine images, look for differences between healthy and pathological areas, and determine if the scope of the exam should be extended, based on preliminary findings
  • complete the appropriate documentation and maintaining patients histories and medical records
  • assistthe healthcare teams during procedures
  • maintain and clean the sonographic equipment
  • prepare ultrasound equipment and exam room ensuring proper sterilization and safety procedures are followed
  • review images to ensure a clear image of the area requested.
RequirementsYou should have:
  • a diploma in sonography or relevant degree
  • one - two years of experience in community research
  • good interpersonal skills, particularly communication skills
  • proficiency in the use of computer applications, particularly MS Office
  • ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
  • ability to work effectively in teams and resilience to cope-up with work pressure
  • good report writing skills and willingness to work in the community settings and travel to field sites.
