In recognition of its high quality and patient safety, the AKUH is accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) as an Academic Medical Centre and its Clinical Laboratories are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) for fast and accurate testing.ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible to:ú Assess the learning needs of nursing staff and ensure nominations and attendance for continuing educational sessions as per needsú Coordinate with the concerned for the implementation of division-wide nursing educational programmesú Develop specialty based annual educational sessions are conducted as per monthly educational plansú Ensure completion of all Competency-Based Orientation (CBO) of new staff within stipulated timeú Monitor credentialing of nursing staff and nominate them for re-credentialing if requiredú Meet with clinicians to discuss patient care treatment regimens and quality issues as per needsú Develop plan of training, conducting formal and informal sessions and re-evaluating its effectiveness in unitsú Develop courses and modules to enhance staff competence, and monitor special assignments.ú Maintain and monitor clinical indicatorsú Set annual goals and objectives related to staff development of assigned areas and design strategies for nurturing of first lines Nurse Instructors in unitsú Participate in establishing standards of care with unit staff and monitor delivery of care according to the set standards such as patient safety, Quality of care, Health Care-Associated Infection, policies, procedures, protocols, and patient-centred careú Conduct clinical reviews and liaise with nursing regulatory body Nursing Education Services at Aga Khan University Hospital and School of Nursing and Midwiferyú Certifying and supervising the clinical performance of the interns and staffú Perform the required clinical tasks depending on the patient? acuity.ú Reinforce unit, division and policies and proceduresú Maintain and keep the record of all clinical incidents and follow up in a timely basisú Consult with the Nursing Manager monthly regarding staff development activities/issues.RequirementsYou must have:ú a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BScN) from an accredited school and a valid PNC licenseú certification in ACLS/ BLS, Safe Medication Administration, Intravenous Cannulation and Conscious Sedation (as applicable)ú at least three years of clinical experience as Registered Nurseú excellent ability to train staff on skills and provide knowledgeú expertise in clinical nursing practices and commitment to excellence in nursing practiceú awareness of current clinical and research literatureú ability to effective work independently as well as in teams and work under stressful situations.
