Job Description

Title: Manager (Strategy and Planning), Office of CEO ? Aga Khan University Health Services (AKUHS)Introduction:The Aga Khan University Hospital is a not-for-profit healthcare institute that offers all medical services to their patients under one roof. In addition to the tertiary care hospital in Karachi, AKUH has a network of 4 secondary care hospitals, 30+ Medical Centres, and over 290+ Clinical Laboratories, 30+ Pharmacies in over 120+ cities across Pakistan. It also offers Home Healthcare Services and home deliveries of medicines. The Hospital provides Zakat for those patients who are eligible, and the health systems offers generous Patient Welfare to support those in financial need. In recognition of its high quality and patient safety, the AKUH is accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) as an Academic Medical Centre and its Clinical Laboratories are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) for fast and accurate testing.Responsibilities:Reporting to the CEO, you will be work on developing strategy to drive growth within the existing portfolio as well as prepare feasibility for future expansion needs within health services, set strategy and enhance the operational capabilities of the organization, develop effective relationships with relevant organizations outside AKU, including AKDN entities and other public and private healthcare organizations. Specific responsibilities include to:

  • advise on and address matters of strategic and operational importance using best practices and thorough knowledge of institutional objectives and priorities
  • gather intelligence on operational matters and strategic opportunities and challenges
  • identify areas of improvement within the hospital that are high impact and develop plan to address it using SMART goals in consultation with relevant stakeholders
  • plan and implement systems for pragmatic assessment of projects and activities, and strengthen internal governance structureÿ
  • prepare and submit reports for internal and external stakeholders, specifying the progress on priorities and goals set for AKUHS
  • identify potential risks and challenges to the organizations strategy and develop mitigation plans
  • collaborate with a diverse team of professionals while fostering a positive and innovative work environment
  • provide guidance and mentorship to team members to ensure high
  • develop and manage relationships with external stakeholders including other healthcare and community leaders, and influencers in public and private sector
  • strengthen and oversee partnerships with AKDN agencies.
Requirements:You should have:
  • a Master?s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Management, Public Health Policy or equivalent
  • at least five years of relevant work experience in reputable healthcare or related organizations
  • demonstrated success in driving projects with relevant stakeholders to benefit the organization
  • adept strategic sense, developed through experience within large, complex and diverse organizations
  • strong interpersonal skills, particularly communication skills and ability to present complex ideas in simpler and meaningful form
  • in-depth understanding of healthcare ecosystem in Pakistan and surrounding markets
  • ability to effectively work with a diverse team of professionals while ensuring accountability and focus on results
  • proficiency in preparing official documents, including strategic reports, official correspondence and other forms of communication
  • ability to handle work pressure and meet stringent deadlines
  • willingness for travelling within and outside country
