Manager, Research, Institute for Global Health and DevelopmentEntityAga Khan UniversityLocationKarachi, PakistanIntroductionThe Aga Khan University?s Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD) was established in the year 2020 to serve as a University-wide entity for providing a unique platform for facilitating strategic engagements and partnerships between AKU, University of Central Asia and the wider Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). IGHD aims to address global health and environmental challenges by creating a multi-disciplinary support system and infrastructure, whereby researchers across campuses and regions can collaborate and contribute.The IGHD works across four thematic areas, including Sustainable Development Goals (including Broad Social Determinants of Health); Gender Equity and Empowerment; Climate Change, Urban Development, and Health, and; Agriculture, Food Security, and Nutrition.ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible to:

  • implement and supervise research projects, develop instruments for data collection and monitoring
  • share progress of the project, supervise data entry activities, coordinate with laboratory management for specimen testing and reporting.
  • develop SoPs for project and administrative processes and procedures to facilitate standardised practices at all field
  • evaluate the performance of physicians and giving feedback, conducting internal audits for on-going research projects and report to the Principal Investigator(s) with recommendations
  • hire and train research staff and physicians, as per projects requirements
  • work closely with administrative staff to ensure discipline, sufficient supplies and optimal staff at the field sites on day to day basis
  • prepare and manage duty rosters for all field staff on holidays or during tense city situations
  • observe, troubleshoot and report to higher management with solution the identified problems for efficient performances at field sites
  • liaise with community leaders, and project staff of all tiers to ensure smooth running of projects? activities within the settings
  • prepare and compile study progress report
  • produce monthly project reports in collaboration with the Data Manager
  • present the study results as per the requirement.
Requirements:You should have:
  • a Master?s in Public Health/ Epidemiology and Biostatistics/ Health Policy and Management/ Sociology. PhD in the relevant field will be preferred
  • at least eight years of experience with five years of research management experience, preferably in health sector
  • demonstrated experience in epidemiological research, including but not limited to: systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses, longitudinal analyses of cohort or trial data, development and validation of risk prediction models and handling of missing data
  • a record of high-impact publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals
  • excellent project management skills, including ability to lead teams and manage resources effectively
  • excellent interpersonal skills with ability to present complex ideas and information in clear and meaningful form to various stakeholders.
