Associate, Pathology and Laboratory MedicineDepartment: Pathology and Laboratory MedicineEntity: Medical CollegeIntroduction:The Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistan?s first private university, Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The Aga Khan University is a unique/distinguish establishment which serves the clinical laboratory of Aga Khan University Hospital with academic interest. This department is heavily engaged in undergraduate, postgraduate and technologist training programs. It provides professional training for higher degree in four major areas of Pathology (Chemical Pathology, Hematology, Histopathology, and Microbiology). Currently, there are approximately 61? Faculty, including 3 part time, 2 visiting faculty members, and 41 Residents.???ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible to:

  • type of confidential and routine correspondence including medical reports, policies and other material
  • receive incoming mails and re-route to the concerned person
  • attend callers and visitors at Histopathology section, which entails screening of queries, complaints and re-directing to relevant authorities. It also requires liaising with other departments and issuing of instructions accordingly
  • maintain filling of physical and electronic records & assist Department Manager for the audit
  • schedule and arrange appointment and meetings for Section Head & Faculty of the assigned area including Sectional Meeting/ CAP/ CME and Frozen section matters
  • take care of logistics for meetings chaired by Section Head and events/workshop organized by the section or department. Record meeting minutes if required.
  • coordinate and track workflow, schedules and follows-up for the Tumor Board Meetings and facilitate the slide review process and Skin Biopsy/Gross Pictures activity
  • prepare PowerPoint presentations & literature/internet searches as required
  • prepare timetable, handouts, examination/ assessment papers, evaluations, results sheets, sectional report and sectional OPPE forms of faculty assigned
  • coordinate ordering and issuance of stationery & supplies for assigned areas as well as ensure proper maintenance of office equipment
  • coordinate sectional journal club and slide sessions (DCPE accreditation, compilation of attendance and evaluation, collection of CME certificates)
  • assist Residency Coordinator for related matters & trainee / elective rotation in the section
  • coordinate with sectional faculty for renewal of BLS, PMDC certificates & scientific society memberships/ Updating CVs/ travel &transport arrangements/ maintenance of Sectional Leave records etc.
  • coordinate booking and maintenance of Autopsy Conference room and Histopathology DCC room
  • liaising with finance, IT, bio-medical, security, dispatch, maintenance, Human Resources etc. for da to day official matters.
  • any other tasks assigned by the Section Head and Department Manager.
RequirementsYou should have:
  • graduate/ Masters (preferred)
  • 2-4 years of related work experience preferably in Health Care Institution
  • good communication and interpersonal skills
  • good customer orientation
  • fluency in spoken English language
  • proficiency in use of computer package e.g. MS Office
  • good English writing skills including the ability to prepare minutes of meetings
  • ability to meet tight deadlines.
