Job Description

IntroductionThe Medical College (MC) was established in 1983, as a part of the Aga Khan University?s (AKU) Faculty of Health Sciences in Pakistan. It attaches great emphasis to the professional, personal and intellectual development of faculty and students, so that its graduates become contributory members and leaders of society.The programmes offered by the Medical College are tailored to international standards in curriculum, student engagement and assessment, and aim to develop clinical competence in community settings and hospitals, as well as the assessment of health and prevention of disease in communities through primary health-care programmes.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Senior Manager and indirectly the Dean the incumbent will play a critical supporting role in advancing Alumni Engagement through development and implementation of an Alumni Engagement strategy. This individual will be responsible for strengthening the MC?s Alumni network through the development of campaigns and outreach materials; identification and liaise with alumni globally; and be responsible for all events related to Alumni of the Medical College.˙ Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting strategic initiatives of the Dean related to their function and will be a key partner to the Alumni Affairs team at AKU Global.˙Specific responsibilities will include:

  • research of prospective donors and MC Alumni?this includes both a deep dive into internal databases, as well as a national level landscape
  • develop a partnership plan and implementation of key initiatives to support fundraising targets of the MC, in consultation with RD and Alumni Affairs
  • develop communications tools (Alumni Map and others) to help communicate impact of MC Alumni in partnership with MC Communications team
  • utilise social media to track trends related to AKU Alumni Affairs
  • track and analyze Dean?s Communications with prospective donors and Alumni
  • ensure active and streamlined communications with all prospective and current donors
  • support development of proposals
  • lead the planning, coordination, and programme development for all virtual and in person events related to RD and Alumni Affairs, in partnership with respective central offices
  • develop quarterly report on progress, risks and way forward
  • assist the team with day to day management of the associations, events, meetings, logistics and fundraising
  • be responsible for development of website content as it relates to Alumni Affairs and Resource Development.
RequirementsYou should have:
  • a Bachelor?s degree from a well-reputed local or international university in Communications, Journalism, Social Sciences and/or equivalent in training and experience. Masters will be preferred
  • 2-3 years of related work experience at a reputable organization in a role that requires strong communication skills (e.g. local or international NGO, University, multinational company). ˙Experience in the higher education or development sector with direct experience in advancement is preferred
  • outstanding interpersonal, presentation, and communications skills required, characterized by the ability to listen, to speak, and to write well, with a strong commitment to customer service
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • ability to self-motivate and work well with and through others required
  • excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • experience working on a campaign preferred
  • strong data and analytics skills preferred.
