This is an exciting time as the Centre expands to new AKU campuses in Nairobi and Kampala. The Centre is committed to working with partners in healthcare, education and clinical practice to enrich educational experiences and improve healthcare outcomes and patient safety.ResponsibilitiesReporting to Director, CIME, the incumbent will be required to lead change and innovation in media, marketing, and business development to support education within the Centre. He/she will also be responsible to design system, protocols, guidelines and policies. Specifically, the Advisor will be responsible for:

• setting targets for the education team
• participating in recruitment and appraisal for the education team with the Director
• providing day-to-day supervision and delegating work assignments to education team
• designing systems, protocols, guidelines and policies for the education team
• planing and resourcing a programme of Continuing Professional Development for the education team
• conducting team meetings to review goals and initiatives, promoting team building and working to provide career paths for staff
• utilising the data generated from the day-to-day courses to inform future practices
• providing educational performance statistics to Director
• providing specific advice, in the area of education, of strategic relevance to CIME
• liaising closely with the Technical and Administrative Advisors in strategic planning
• working with the fellow advisors and the team to maintain SSH Accreditation
• proposing and overseeing research of strategic relevance to simulation education
• disseminating knowledge locally, nationally and internationally
• delegating and overseeing the implementation and evaluation of educational developments and innovations
• proposing and undertaking pedagogical research projects
• ensuring quality standards in documentation, labelling and storage of information related to education activities, courses and programmes. 

• a degree in healthcare (MBBS, BScN) from an HEC recognised or reputable foreign university/institution
• preferably a Masters degree in Simulation Education or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE)
• at least five years of relevant experience in simulation preferably at a supervisor level in a healthcare environment, with significant exposure to direct patient care
• preparedness to undertake an MSc or Fellowship in simulation education immediately
• proficiency/knowledge of simulation based education and training
• ability to plan, implement and evaluate all aspects of simulation education
• ability to mentor faculty, clinicians, and staff in the design of curriculum involving clinical simulation
• an excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• an excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in teams
• leadership capabilities with the ability to foster credibility and trust.
