Job Description

  • Reports to Operations Manager, Marine, and Road
  • Full responsibility of the River Transport operations and directly accountable for the below while in charge
  • Barge to shore and shore to barge loading and discharge operations
  • Product quality monitoring during receipt, discharge, and transport
  • Full accountability for the inventory of the cargo from loading to completion of discharge
  • The safe navigation of the pushers and barges on the river
  • The proper maintenance and Housekeeping of the pushers and barges
  • The maintenance and integrity of all loading and discharge equipment on the barges
  • To maintain and improve the Health and Safety culture and standards in the River Transport
  • The compliance to the company HSE policies and standards by all the direct reports/persons working on the pushers and barges at any time
  • To ensure all new barge/pusher workers have received appropriate induction training special on the job training and that all safety aspects are fully understood and that all staff are provided with appropriate PPE
  • All staff before each transit conduct the required drills and that every person working on board is aware of his responsibilities in case of emergencies
  • The fuel consumption of the pushers to be within the generic engine consumption limits for power applied
  • Participates/conducts risk assessment on Pusher / Barges along with HSEQ and Marine Manager
  • Supervises work permit implementation on vessels as required to provide assurance that all significant hazards arising from tasks are identified and controlled
  • Supervising the logistics and all safety aspects during the loading, Transport/sailing, and offloading in order to avoid any incident/Accident.
  • In charge of safety activities, conducting / Initiating fire drill exercises in order to keep the crew alert and trained for handling a fire situation
  • Coordinate the crews (International & National), administrative issues, leaves, training, and discipline along with the Marine Manager
  • Maintenance of sailing logs, as well for a fire drill, fuel consumption, maintenance, parts, repairs, etc
  • Responsible for control of HSEQ on board during loading, sailing, and discharging
  • Maintain HSEQ items status and notify line Manager & HSEQ Manager in advance for items in a critical situation
  • Participate in the investigation of incidents/accidents
  • Participate in the investigation of oil or environmental pollution and cleaning program as required
