Summary of essential job functions:The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Counselor is primarily responsible for establishing and providing an Employee Assistance Program to Sallyport Global employees stationed at Balad Air Base.Roles and responsibilities:The EAP Counselor is tasked with providing guidance and support to employees who are faced with difficult situations. These situations could include:? Stress: Stress is one of the top issues that an EAP counselor has to deal with. When employees are stressed, it can spill over into other parts of an individual's life, such as their job. This would in turn lead to reduced productivity, more mistakes, poor judgment and impaired concentration.? Conflict: Conflicts occasionally arise amongst colleagues (either coworkers or management). The job of the EAP counselor is to help resolve these conflicts in the work place by developing a plan that will help everyone work together better.? Transition: EAP counselor will help employees during a time the company is in transition, such as layoffs, new management and department changes. Helping employees with these situations is sometimes required.? Personal Issues: Many employees find themselves struggling with personal issues, including mental illness, substance abuse, domestic violence, grief, or family issues.? Judgment and Decision Making : Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.? Or Other Considerations Including social perceptiveness, or being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do, and monitoring/assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organization to make improvements or take corrective action.The sessions the EAP counselor has with employees must be kept confidential.Desired knowledge, skills and abilities:? Consistently demonstrate integrity and trustworthiness.? Ability to work in harsh climatic conditions, austere living conditions with the potential for an element of danger.? Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.? Excellent eye for detail and strict adherence to approved process' and procedures.? Understanding of cultural factors and sensitivities when working with Iraqi civilian co-workers.? Willing to be flexible regarding hours and respond quickly to time sensitive or urgent requirements.Minimum qualifications and education requirements:? Essential to have at least 10 years of verifiable work experience in applicable field, primarily supporting Employee Assistance Programs? Master's level degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or another applicable field? Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain US government clearance.? Experience providing management consultation? Experience developing and delivering trainings? Excellent verbal, communication, interpersonal skillsPreferred qualifications:? CEAP certification
