Performs his/her duties and tasks as per Hospital Policy and Agreement on Professional Code of Conduct.
Actively participates in all quality and performance improvement activities within the department/service and within the hospital as per Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.
Actively participates in all the education requirement and activities as per the Hospital Education Program.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the scope of practice and employment contract.
Ensures that all patients and families are treated in a polite and courteous manner.
Applies plaster of paris casts, splints and other orthotic devices to affected limbs as prescribed by physician.
Reports and documents significant information on patient medical records, including but not limited to date time of cast application, condition of limb castes, noting color temperature of skin, elevation of extremity, etc.
Schedules with receptionists on nursing unit orthopedic services as required e.g. cast removal etc.
Ensures that treatment-storage areas are clean and in order.
Develops and maintains adequate level of supplies and equipment for Orthopedic Department.
Work closely with physicians, orthotics and other member of the health team.
Participates in after-hour duties as rostered.
Attends departmental meetings and educational activities.
Maintains proficiency in the appropriate level of CPR certification.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities
