Become familiar with policies, plans, and procedures as related to VEOLIA and the fire department.
Review and understand fire prevention inspection programs and applicability.
Respond to fire, hazardous materials, medical rescue, and terrorism emergencies, to minimize loss of life and property, environmental impact, or economic impact.
Provide medical assistance and rescue.
Migrate hazardous materials releases.
Perform confined space rescue.
Attend required training to maintain proficiency.
Conduct fire prevention safety orientation to contractor personnel and visitors as required.
˙Attend annual refresher training.
Perform routine fire inspections of plant facilities and process units for potential fire code deficiencies.
Assist in the inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire suppression systems, fire alarm systems, fire hydrants, fire pumps, and fire extinguishers.
Maintain and update documentation as necessary.
Maintain fire protection equipment assigned to VEOLIA in a ready-response state.
Perform apparatus daily checks.
Inspect and test identified response equipment.
Perform hose and ladder testing.
Identify potential hazards within the plant that may affect emergency response operations.
Perform work direction duties at the level established by management for the position.
Wear required PPE and follow safe work practices at all times.
Required to work in an elevated threat environment which needs a fluid response to all emergencies and/or hostile actions.
Internally work closely with operations, maintenance, security, technical, and training departments as necessary.
Work with internal and external customers professionally.
Advise the Fire chief or his delegate of equipment deficiencies.
Reports deficiencies in fire protection equipment.
