Roles & ResponsibilitiesConducting precise field surveys to establish property boundaries, topographic features, and construction layout points using advanced surveying equipment and techniques.Interpreting and analyzing survey data to prepare accurate and detailed topographic maps, boundary surveys, and site plans utilizing CAD software.Performing calculations for earthwork volumes, cut and fill, and other quantities essential for civil engineering projects.Coordinating with engineers, architects, and construction teams to ensure accurate implementation of design plans in the field.Researching historical records, deeds, and easements to resolve boundary disputes and establish legal property lines.Operating and maintaining surveying instruments such as total stations, GPS receivers, and laser scanners, ensuring their calibration and accuracy.Generating construction staking calculations and setting out critical points for infrastructure development, including roads, utilities, and buildings.Creating and modifying 2D and 3D CAD drawings, including site layouts, grading plans, and utility designs, adhering to industry standards.Ensuring compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations and codes pertaining to land surveying and civil drafting.Documenting all survey activities, calculations, and drawings meticulously for project records and future reference.Desired Candidate ProfileAssociate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Surveying, or a related field.Possession of a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or EIT certification is highly advantageous.Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in land surveying and civil drafting roles.Proven experience with modern surveying equipment (Total Stations, GPS/GNSS) and data collectors.Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation) and GIS platforms.Strong understanding of surveying principles, legal descriptions, and boundary retracement.Excellent mathematical and analytical skills for complex calculations and data interpretation.Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse project stakeholders.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in both office and field environments.Physical stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform demanding tasks.
