About the Institution:AFG College with the University of Aberdeen is a new higher education partnership forged in 2017. The partnership has created the first UK University offering mainstream degrees in the State of Qatar outside of Qatar Foundation. The University welcomed its first undergraduate students in September 2017. With over 525 years of history, the ?ancient? University of Aberdeen is among the world?s leading educational institutions and is consistently ranked among the top 200 universities in the world and in 2019 was awarded Scottish University of the Year. The University of Aberdeen is committed to developing a growing and experienced full-time faculty to support its first dedicated overseas campus.Currently there are over 590 students studying at our Qatar campus. To accommodate the growth in our student numbers a new branch campus is due to be opened in September 2022. This new campus will allow for further expansion in student numbers, degree offerings and research.AFG College with University of Aberdeen has two undergraduate degree programs (Accountancy & Finance; and Business Management) and three postgraduate programs (MBA; MSc International Business; LLM International Commercial Law) and expects to be launching additional new programs in the new academic year. To meet this growing demand, AFG College wish to recruit committed academic / industry professionals with qualifications or significant experience in teaching of Accounting & Finance. The new team members will join the existing mix of professional staff with experience in Accounting and Finance and research qualified academics.We are looking to attract Accounting academics/professionals, with a good understanding of all aspects of Business Management and/or Finance professionals / academics with a broad understanding of Business Management. Knowledge of Derivatives & Treasury, Corporate Finance, Financial & Investment Strategy will be of particular interest.Candidates will ideally have track record of university teaching and learning background or experience of training, educating, and mentoring the development of others. They should ideally have prior transnational education experience. The ability to teach in more than one business related area is essential. In addition to their teaching responsibilities, successful candidates will also be expected to contribute to the administration of the programs, to actively engage with industry and in relevant scholarship and research activities. Knowledge of the profession and links to industry will enhance the expectation that the candidate will collaborate with other research faculty in the growing wider academic community in Qatar.Job Requirements:It is desirable for candidates to hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification achieved in the English language in a management related discipline. However, professionals in Accounting or Finance who do not possess a PhD but have a Master?s degree (or equivalent professional qualification) and significant industry experience in Accountancy, Finance, Law are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates should demonstrate their experience in Teaching & Learning within a UK HE environment and be able to bring their pedagogic knowledge to the School?s Undergraduate portfolio of courses. Ideally candidates will have a teaching qualification, or experience of leading the development of others.
