English Listening, Speaking,Reading at Proficiency Level B2? Arabic - Listening, Speaking, Reading atProficiency Level C1? Some work or volunteering experiencedealing with members of the public? We strongly advise you toconsult our guidance document BEFORE applying for vacancies at the BritishCouncil, Qatar.The main issues to take intoconsideration are;1.TheQatari authorities have placed restrictions on certain categories of people.As such, Residence Permits currently cannot be gained by;a. Nationals from certain countries - the list of affected countries is not publicised andchanges without notice.b.Those aged 60 or abovec. Unmarried partners - only married partners may be sponsored and thereforeobtain the appropriate residence permit. It is unlawful in Qatar for unmarriedpartners to cohabit.d. Male children above 25 years old and not enrolled in higher education2.Forreasons that are beyond our control, it is unfortunately not possible for female employees sponsored by the British Council tosponsor accompanying family members.3.Male employees canonly sponsortheir accompanying family members iftheir salary is equal or greater than QAR10,000 .4.Holdersof passports containing an Israeli stamp will not be granted visas toQatar5.Successfulcandidates will need to provide many documents , some of which must be legalised .This is mandatory to gain residency in Qatar.6. Medicaltests are carried out in-country before aresidence permit is granted tests for major infectious diseases are carriedout. The British Council has no control over this process.7.It takes a minimum of 4 months for aperson to be able to sponsor spouse and children to gain residency inQatar. In general, family members will not be able to accompany the staffmember to post from the onset of the contract.8. Qualificationsthe Qatari government has put in many restrictionson acceptable qualifications for gaining residencya.High School or First Degrees arerequired Master s won t be accepted without the aforementioned.b.Qualifications must be acquired inthe country of certificate issuance (certificates from branches may not beaccepted)c.Distanceand online learning degrees are not currently recognisedFulfilling the above requirements doesnot guarantee that we will be able to secure the appropriate visa or permit foryou or your family members.
