Minimum RequirementsEDUCATION:Master s Degree in Health, Public Health, Medical degree, Nursing with the epidemiology training.EXPERIENCE:Minimum: 6 years experience in Public Health or Healthcare. At least 3 years of this 6 years must be as an Epidemiologist OR in epidemiology medical statistics.LICENSE:Not applicable.LANGUAGE SKILLS:Fluent in English - Oral and Written.Job SpecificationPosition SummaryThe Senior epidemiologist is responsible for providing expert epidemiological, scientific, and technical leadership in designing and conducting epidemiology investigations. Also conduct research, as well as oversee public health programs and train other healthcare workers on communicable disease control.Principal Accountabilities1. Lead Epidemiology Assessment and Analysis:Validate identification of public health problems pertinent to the populationOrganize surveillanceDesign investigation of acute and chronic conditions or other adverse outcomes in the populationSynthesize principles of good ethical/legal practice for application to study design and data collection, dissemination, and useManage data from surveillance, investigations, or other sourcesEvaluate data from an epidemiological investigation or studyEvaluate results of the analysis, and interpret conclusionsFormulate new interventions on the basis of evidence when available, and control measures in response to epidemiological findingsPerform other duties as assign2. Evaluate programs:Develop processes for using laboratory resources to support epidemiological activitiesApply principles of informatics, including data collection, processing, and analysis, in support of epidemiological practiceDevelop and manage information systems to improve effectiveness of surveillance, investigation, and other epidemiological practices3. Communicate with various audiences in a timely and relevant manner:Organize preparation of written and oral reports and presentations that communicate necessary information to professional audiences, policymakers, and the general publicCreate messages that follow the principles of risk communicationModel interpersonal skills in communications with agency personnel, colleagues, and the publicUse effective communication technologies4. Integrate Community Dimensions into Epidemiology Practice:Lead epidemiological studies, public health programs, and community public health planning processes at the state, local, or tribal levelDevelop community partnerships to support epidemiological investigations5. Develop, support and model leadership and systems thinking:Use performance measures to evaluate and improve epidemiology program effectivenessPromote ethical conduct in epidemiological practicePrepare for emergency responseDescribe the financial planning and budgetary process of epidemiology program6.
