You will be in charge of engineering functions which encompass operation and maintenance of all facilities; equipment, machinery and building of the hotel in order to achieve guest satisfaction, employee satisfaction and provide a safe and well-maintained environment. You will also work with the hotel team to ensure minimum impact of operation on the environment.Key Responsibilities:? Direct the overall operation of the engineering department to effect efficiently supply of electricity, water, steam and conditioned air to the entire hotel, through proper operation and maintenance of equipment and facilities? Formulate ways and means to accomplish proper and more acceptable maintenance and upkeep of guestrooms and public areas, in order to delight guests and satisfy colleagues? Maintain and update comprehensive preventive maintenance program? Formulate and implement cost cutting schemes as a complement to meeting the budgeted expense? Establish a workable solution in realizing an efficient and economical generation and utilization of energy and other utility resources? Implement the rules and regulations of the hotel without sacrificing staff morale or motivation? Establish training programs for the engineering team? Monitor the implementation of proper care and maintenance of all fire and safety equipment in the hotel and conduct regular audits? Ensure that the hotel s policy and procedures are being followed at all times? Coordinate with government agencies in updating and implementing national and municipal laws and ordinances pertaining to environmental care and safety? As the designated fire chief of the hotel, performs all duties and responsibilities required of the role to prepare and familiarize all employees for actual emergencies and fire drill exercises? Ensure all staff actively participates in the preservation of the environment and reuse, recycle or reduce whenever possible? Any other duties and responsibilities as required by the Resident Manager and/or the General Manager? Cooperate with the departments to achieve compliance with FLS legislation? Take moral and legal responsibility for conducting themselves in their work so they do not expose themselves or others to risk? Read, understand, and implement the relevant sections of the FLS Policy? Not undertake any activity which compromises their personal FLS or the FLS of others? Report all accidents, dangerous occurrences, or hazards, no matter how minor, to the supervisor or Heads of DepartmentWhat we need from youIdeally, you'll have some or all of the following competencies and experience we're looking for:? A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Director of Engineering in a luxury hotel and/or resort with refurbishment and renovation experience? Experience working in GCC? A bachelor's degree or a higher degree related to Engineering? Industry-based certifications / licenses? Ability to work under pressure in a high volume operations whilst achieving the budget? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills? Ability to lead a large and diverse team? Problem solving and decision making skills
